Personal Narrative Continued |

Okay so you’re probably thinking big deal you joined the dance team! However this was a big deal, actually a tremendous deal because not only was I finally participating in something, but I was also starting a new beginning. Because when I said joining the dance team I failed to mention that first I had to put one together. I began my mission by finding to teachers who supported my ideas. After finding the wonderful teachers who were willing to help me it was time to go talk to the principle. I had it all planed out I was going to start on how a dance team had been absent from our extracurricular activities for almost six years now, and then end with the significance of the idea. Yeah that was the plan, however one foot inside that office and I started to wonder how I had ever thought I could get these words through the terrible nervous stutter my mouth was producing. Luckily my two favorite teachers were with me, they told her just about everything I had originally thought I was. Although my attempt to try persuading the principle into the dance team hadn’t went exactly how I planned, it had still worked so I didn’t really care. Now that the idea was okayed I began to recruit my helpers. We made posters for every hallway and made sure to put the tryout dates around the whole school. After spreading the word we started to work on the dance routine the participants would have to perform. Every night I went home and repeated the routine over and over till I had literally made myself exhausted. Although I considered telling my parents about all the exciting news I just kept putting it off. Then before I knew it tryouts were here and the Knights dance team was finally back on the floor. There were twenty three girls who tried out and fourteen who made it, plus two boys. Our team was finally all together! And we had two and half weeks to prepare for our first performance, that would be at half time at the first home game of basketball season. For the first two days after tryouts I helped the coaches pick what songs we would use for our upcoming routine. Then practice started every day after school for two hours. Although deep down I believed my parents would be proud of what I began, I still couldn’t work up enough nerve to talk to them about it. So for the first week of practice I told them I was staying after to work on a biology project. |
