“Mr. Hankey’s Christmas Classics,” is an episode in which talking feces hosts a Christmas show, where characters sing their version of Christmas songs. This episode caused huge uproar in Russia. The Russian Union of Christmas of Evangelical Faith said this specific episode, “insulted the feelings of religious believers and incited religious and national hatred”(Daily Variety). There was a lawsuit, that was eventually dropped, trying to get ‘South Park’ banned in Russia. This show proves that ‘South Park’ is a world wide phenomenon, that not only stirs up controversy in the US, it also tends to ruffle a few feathers outside North America. |
