The relationship between diabetes and obesity is simple. The more overweight one is; the greater risk there is of developing diabetes. The availability of fast foods and lax attitudes towards dieting and exercise help to acquaint these two diseases. But there are ways to treat each disease.  People with a BMI of 40 or over can opt to have Gastric Bypass Surgery (GBP).  The surgery accounts for a smaller stomach which reduces the amount a food that can be stored. Of course there can be complications, as with any surgery, such as infection and even death.
Depending on the severity of one’s Diabetes, there are treatments. An insulin pump is used by those with more severe cases of Diabetes. An insulin pump is a 24/7 continuous supply of insulin being pumped into the body. There are also simpler methods of treatment such as taking pills by mouth and an exercise regimen along with watching what you eat.

These two known diseases seem to not be taken as seriously as they should. The Health Channel frequently shows programs entitled, “Morbidly Obese” or “Obese Mom/Dad/Teen” and even obese adolescents at Fat Camp. If they were not already diagnosed with some type of Diabetes, they weren’t too far away from it. They’ve [diabetes and obesity] been morphed into a single word, DIABESITY, because preventing one CAN prevent the other.
