9/11

It started as any normal school day, my friends and I sitting around talking and just waiting for the bell to ring so we could get home. A short time after lunch the teachers started to act odd like they were really tense or sad. But as a nine year old, ,I didn't think anything about it and continued with my day. At three thirty sharp the bell rang and my friends and I made a mad dash for the bus trying to get the back seats for the ride home.

As the bus slowed to a stop the brakes squealing as they always did I hopped off the bus and raced my sister up the driveway and through the front door. That is when I noticed my mom sitting on the couch with a look of disbelief and shock on her face. I asked her what was wrong and she told both my sister and I to sit down and just watch. I tossed my backpack into the corner and plopped down on the couch not knowing what the television going to reveal to us, that’s when I saw the clips of the planes crashing into the twin towers and I became confused. It was such a shock to all my senses, the sight of the explosions the sounds of people screaming was just overwhelming.

“What movie is this?” I asked confusingly.

“Its no movie.” My mom answered.

“Than what is going on.” I asked demanding the answer to my question.

“I don't really know” Answered my mom with a bit of uneasiness in her voice.

After I got over the initial shock my sister, mom and I headed into town so they could get their haircut. The whole time we were at the barbershop, I sat in a chair eyes glued to the television watching the planes hit the towers over and over trying to decipher what had just happened. It frightened me and I wondered who could do such a terrible thing.  I was joined shortly later by other people wanting to hear the latest news about the attacks and about the attack on the pentagon which I had no clue about. I had only heard about the twin towers attacks and had no clue about the attack on the pentagon and the plane that crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
