Coming out in the pitch black taking my place on the stage, nerves and mind racing so fast it’s making my head spin, come on concentrate. As I feel my hands slide up the neck my fingers press the strings of my guitar, I hit the first power chord, and the lights explode on. I hear the drum sticks click off the rhythm, one two three four. The amplifiers burst out the melodic intro to the song; I can feel the adrenaline rush through my veins causing me to focus even more. The vocals kick in, its going good we are all in tune with each other running through the chorus of the song. My solos coming up I’m getting more anxious by the second. I take place on center stage standing on top of my box I fell the eyes upon me I hit the last note to the chorus and slam into the solo, I can hear cheers and screams from the audience I finally accomplished my dream then a problem entered the room. The day was moderately warm, not too bad for a fall day. I was hanging out with my friend Chris when he says “Dude I wish I could find two guitarists to jam with I can’t seem to find any that I really mesh with.” A spark had just ignited inside my brain, I thought to myself I play guitar and so does my other friend Evan. That’s when I asked Chris what instrument he happened to play. “Drums dude.” He responded. My mind was now fervently racing with ideas. “Chris I may have a guitarist for you, me and my friend Evan who taught me everything I know could try and play with you.” I saw his face light up with excitement. “Are you serious?” he asked. I could hear the excitement in his voice. “I’m dead serious man; he and I can play just about any kind of style together.” He calmly got up off his fiancés couch and looked at me. “That’s awesome dude you want to jam tomorrow?” The question seemed to have echoed in my mind. I was waiting to hear it the entire conversation. “Most defiantly dude, I’ll give Evan a ring and see if he’ll come out with us.” I said, my voice racing with excitement. “Alright dude give me a call tonight and let me know.” He said as he kissed his fiancé goodbye who happened to be one of my best friends. I had known her since we were kids. As he walked out the door I seemed to be lost in thought. “Could this finally be my chance to get in band!?!” I thought to myself. I sure hoped to God it was. “Alright Heather I’m gonna head out as well.” I said as I gave her a hug goodbye. I walked out of her apartment door hastily digging in my pocket for my phone to call Evan. I finally got the stupid thing out and with as much haste as I could called Evan. He took forever to answer, which is his usual manner with phones. “Hello?” He said as he finally answered. “Dude I have good news, I think you’re gonna like it!” I said, almost yelling at him. “What is it?” he said sounding more interested by the second. “We have an opportunity to form a band!!” I stated bursting with hope that he would want to. “Holy Jesus Your kidding right!?!” he yelled through the phone. “NO!!” I yelled almost impatiently. He then said, “Dude lets do it!” “Alright! Practice tomorrow at my |
