few seconds before someone asked her what she needed. The women paused before everything she said as if she didn’t really know what she wanted. She finally said, in a quiet voice, “How much is a pedicure?” The women working told her how much it was and then the women left. When the women walked out the door, the room was full of voices. Although the women left, I was feeling very scared and thinking of so many horrible things that could happen in my mind. I didn’t understand why I was feeling so scared towards this women. I used to always see women in burkas around town and it never even fazed me. I didn’t understand why I was feeling this way. I found myself wondering if September 11 had made me feel this way. Was I prejudice? I didn’t think so, but if not then why was I so worried about this women? I still to this day would not say that I am a prejudice person. All I know is that on that day, I was very uncomfortable and scared. September 11 had a major impact on my life in so many different ways. Although I have many emotions and feelings about people and things that happen, I try everyday to get over these emotions and try to find the good in everyone and every situation. But when I look back I still I know that the day the planes hit the twin towers was the day that changed how I looked at things forever. |
