Studies have shown that, “hispanics, women, younger individuals, and those with a history of anxiety or depression have experienced greater psychological distress and have been more at risk for adverse health outcomes.” In the United States, prejudice, discrimination, and violence against Muslims and Arabs have increased since September 11, 2001. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), there was a “reported 1600 percent increase in hate crimes against these populations in the year following September 11.” Since the attack on the twin towers, things have changed tremendously.
