Teen Pregnancies

This is an emergency report focusing on the drastic increase in teen pregnancy in the United States. This issue has increased to a point that is causing a problem relating to the raise in teen parents. What can society do about the issue on teen pregnancy and how can society fix it? The answer is unknown. So many possibilities but not for sure which is going to be the most effective. Teen pregnancy is a crisis that many people like parents that aren’t taking it seriously, which if the people don’t take it seriously -more problems will upraise from an issue that can be fixed. In accordance with Guttmacher Institute this is a problem, because they had stated that, “The abortion rate was 19.3 abortions per one thousand women.” There is ways that can be effective that will prevent problems as teen pregnancy to increase which will be discussed, along with the statistics why it’s an issue and the reasoning for the outbreak. First of all the outbreak of teenage pregnancy is effecting many young lives and a lot of times the child’s life when it comes to their future. The society today is all about sex, drugs, and alcohol. Is this the way we want our future to be like, with increasing pregnancies among teens, causing an increase in abortion, and the spread of diseases. Our society is all ready lacking jobs for a lot of people and including government funding for a lot of different aids that are needed for our community. A lot of these teens can’t afford it and a lot of the times the parents can’t as well. So it is up to the working society to help aid them which isn’t our responsibility to do that in the first place. Therefore a change needs to be made. Better sex education or easier access to condoms and birth control. It is bad enough that a lot of problems comes out of this, but the children that are bearing children are more likely not to successes in the future dreams of college, or just doing great for themselves, but instead there being postponed or forgotten. According to March of Dimes their lives are postponed or forgotten because they had stated that, “about 64 percent of children born to an unmarried teenage high-school dropout and live in poverty.” Therefore teenage pregnancy has become an outbreak that will only increase in time if nothing is going to be done about it. In seems as though the past ten years the television shows, music, and all of society has more open about sex and haven’t made a big deal about it. It’s not a problem until a parent’s daughter or son ends up having a kid of their own when there only fifteen---then it’s a big deal. Parents now days allow kids to date when there in middle school and by the time they are in high school there unsupervised dates. Which a lot of times a kid (which is what a teenager is) needs supervision. Another reason why this issue has become a problem is because the schools don’t promote safe sex and them usually only time they so talk about sex is once in the whole time a teenager is in school. Teenagers are going to have sex and what society as a whole needs to do is to promote safe sex…not abstinence because that’s old school and this is 2010. There is a lot of creditable websites that can be used to help teens in understanding the importance of safe sex.
