One of the cofounders of AA Bill W spoke of his horror and defeat of drinking experiences in his text Alcohol Anonymous. The title of his biography was ‘Pass It On’ it expressed the message and principle that lies behind the growth of AA. Bill W states that ‘Pass It On’ was more than a mere saying but a built in process of passing the message on. lmost everyone agrees that alcohol is one of the worst evils. Alcoholics are sick people in great need of help! Recovery programs, Including AA note that if the individual cooperates and wants it they can recover. Alcohol the disease has become a major problem in our society. Promoting alcohol by advertising is sociable acceptable, but we the society are in a predicament and we need to address it. Banning alcohol advertising would be a start in helping alcoholics in our society. From the information above health care professionals and researchers have proven alcoholism to be a disease. The definition of alcoholism is a medical condition that includes the following symptoms: Loss of control, physical dependence, and tolerance, cravings that interferes with physical health and mental health.

My father had seizures and hallucinations induced by his drinking. We had a brown couch with houses on it, and my dad used to think he saw people coming out of the couch. He held conversations with the people who were not |

there. He acted like this when he drank whiskey. The seizures usually happened when he would be going through withdrawal I think that he may have felt as if he had lost his masculinity. He couldn’t work like other men, and it was difficult to support his wife and kids. His legs, hip, and back ached all the time. I can understand his pain now, because I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia at age of twenty. I ached all the time, felt depressed, and wanted to drink the pain away, and I tried to but it didn’t help. Finally, I began to come to terms with his alcoholism. I realized that alcoholism is an addiction. Everyone has choices in life. You can make the choice to drink responsibly or you can make the choice to drink irresponsibly. My dads’ choice was to continue drinking irresponsibly. He was an alcoholic. My dad died of liver failure at the age of fifty. I will never forget that phone call telling me to come to the hospital. Shortly after I arrived they called a code blue for his room. I kept thinking he is too young to die, but age didn’t matter. What did matter was the amount of time he abused alcohol.
