There is a mental illness that is found in virtually all societies around the world. It happens in places like Fiji, Korea and even here in the U.S. It strikes the young, the old, the rich, and the poor. This mental illness is an eating disorder called Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa. Eating disorders are defined as “disturbances in eating behavior, usually in the form of extreme and unhealthy reduction of food intake.”(Health) Media is a key factor that influences the development of eating disorders. What are the facts of Anorexia and Bulimia and what role do media play in this illness?
