The attention these network shows are getting isn’t going to end anytime soon. Watching these familiar strangers working with food the way they do is a new frontier we have yet to finish exploring. Even other networks such as Fox have started to cash in on this food frenzy with shows like Hell’s Kitchen. The Food industry is a massive money making machine that despite dramatic fluctuations in our economy will always be here. In 2008 the total United States food sales were 1,573 billion dollars and restaurant sales accounted for 566 billion of those dollars. And, with the growing appreciation for our food this is likely to continue to rise and jobs continue to grow.

Because of all these changes implemented in the last several years we can’t go back to the way we use to look at our food. Instead of seeing round and square cakes in local bakeries, we see carousels and cakes in the shape of potted plants. We know the processes that so much of our food went through to get to our plates. The kitchen of restaurants are no longer a mystery to us and when we make dinner for our families we’re more likely to add a little flare to it. People will always be drawn to the amazement and comfort of food. Because no matter what uncontrollable event takes place, you can always count on eggs, flour, sugar, and water to make a cake. |
